You will receive a letter containing the provider's opinion regarding candidacy for the reversal surgery following receipt of this information. Call (731) 660-8300 to discuss further questions or schedule the surgery. Surgery is usually scheduled 7-14 days after the first day of the patient's menstrual period, though this can be altered to suit the needs of the patient.

Patients who fly from distant sites typically use the Nashville or Memphis airports - Nashville is often less expensive. Our office is approximately 2.5 hours from the Nashville airport and 1.5 hours from the Memphis airport. Both are accessible to Jackson via Interstate 40.

As a rule, patients arrive before 3:00 pm the day prior to surgery for their preoperative evaluation and then go to the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital to take care of preadmission procedures. The day of surgery, they arrive early in the morning. Surgery is done usually in the morning, and patients are discharged either late afternoon or evening of the day of surgery or the next morning.

The cost of surgery is $1750 payable to The Jackson Clinic; the cost of the hospital fee and anesthesia is $4,150 payable to the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, for a total of $5,900. This does not include travel costs, lodging, or your prescription pain medication. A $1,000 deposit is required to schedule your surgery and the remaining balance is due on the day prior to surgery.

The deposit should be payable to The Jackson Clinic. We do not accept personal checks. The hospital fee can be paid at the time of your pre-admission visit, usually also on the day prior to your surgery. When you pay the deposit and your surgery is scheduled, an account will be opened for you at The Jackson Clinic and you will receive a written receipt.

The overall fee is as inexpensive as possible and is maintained at this level in order to allow as many patients as are interested to reverse their tubal ligation.

We do not file insurance for tubal reversals. If your insurance provider does cover this procedure, you may file with them for reimbursement.

The fallopian tubes are repaired with the use of an operating microscope at 10 times or greater magnification. Special micro-instruments and sutures allow the tube to be freed from its scar and adhesions and then sewn together to restore patency of the severed ends. The tubal repair is performed in two layers, using 8-0 Vicryl suture. Patency of the fallopian tubes is verified by passage of blue dye injected through the cervix of the uterus at the time of surgery.

This procedure is performed through an open abdominal incision, usually in what is commonly called a "bikini cut." An operating microscope is used to magnify the tubes. The incision is closed with sutures that will dissolve by themselves, so there is no need for staples or stitches to be removed. The sutures will be covered with a surgical dressing that looks like Saran Wrap; this should be removed seven days after surgery (sooner if it appears to be irritating the skin).

Operating time varies from 90 to 120 minutes, and the hospital stay varies from 8 to 24 hours. The procedure is usually without complications, with the exception of pain and occasional postoperative nausea. After the surgery is done, you will spend about an hour in the recovery room, and then will go to a private room. If you are nauseated or have pain that is not relieved by pain medicine taken by mouth, you may stay in the hospital overnight. When you are able to eat or drink a little bit, and urinate, you will be allowed to leave the hospital.

The majority of patients are able to return to work in two weeks; most patients have not had any problems traveling within 24 to 48 hours of their surgery, though it is recommended to remain in Jackson until the day after surgery.

You will be given a prescription for pain medication (for post-operative use) on the day that you come in the office for your preoperative visit. This is not covered in the $5,400 cost; the generic form of pain medication usually is about $20-$30.

There are several factors to consider in the success of tubal reversal surgery. The fallopian tube functions to pick up an egg after it has been released from the ovary, and then provides the place where the egg and sperm join. The tube then helps to move the fertilized egg into the uterus, or womb, where it can implant and grow.

For a tubal reversal to be possible, the fimbria of the tube must still be present. The fimbria is the end of the tube near the ovary that resembles a flower, and helps to pick up the egg after it is released; this is one of the reasons why the reports from your tubal ligation surgery are initially requested. These reports include the operative and pathology reports. If these indicate that the fimbria has been removed, there is no way to restore the function of the fallopian tube.

Another factor to consider is how much of the fallopian tube was removed or damaged when it was tied or burned. Even though each operative and pathology report is carefully reviewed, it is difficult to gauge the exact condition of the tube until directly observed during surgery.

In about one to two percent of cases that our providers have performed, it has been discovered during the surgery that there is not enough tube remaining to perform a tubal reversal.

Success rates improve if the tube is at least four centimeters long after anastamosis; however, shorter segments of tube can be put together as long as the fimbria are present and there is enough tube to sew back together. Other factors determining success are the age of the patient and the length of time since the tubal ligation.

Even if the tubal reversal surgery goes perfectly well, and the tube is open all the way through, there is no guarantee that the tube will work correctly. The fallopian tube has tiny hair-like cells called cilia that help to move the fertilized egg into the uterus. There is no way to control the function of the cilia at the time of surgery. Smoking does decrease the ability of the cilia to work correctly, as well as decreasing fertility rates in general.

One very important fact to consider after a tubal reversal procedure is the increased risk of ectopic, or tubal pregnancy. After a tubal ligation and then tubal reversal, the tube has been operated on twice and scar tissue can form that keeps the fertilized egg from moving through the tube correctly.

It is mandatory that you seek early prenatal care from your local OB-GYN doctor as soon as you think you might be pregnant. You will need to have blood tests and ultrasound(s) done to be sure that the baby is growing in your uterus. It is also recommended that you take folic acid, or folate, 0.4-1.0 mg (400-1000 mcg) daily. This has been proven to lower the chance of children having a neural tube defect, or spina bifida. It is important that you start this before you get pregnant to gain the benefit.

Patients who are severely overweight can be very difficult to operate on -- the thickness of the abdominal wall interferes with surgery because the micro-instruments are not long enough to properly repair the tube. It is not possible to operate on anyone with significant obesity. Thus, please include accurate height and weight in your letter of introduction. If your weight is questionable according to standard insurance tables, pictures of yourself or a physical examination may be requested to determine if the surgery can be done.

We are able to perform tubal reversals on patients with an allergy to latex. If you have a latex allergy, please let us know so we can make accommodations.

If you have had an endometrial ablation, you are not a candidate for a tubal reversal. The endometrium (lining of the uterus) is damaged so much that pregnancy can be dangerous for you and the baby.

There is a chance of complications with any type of surgery, although the risk associated with tubal reversals is low. Risks of surgery include bleeding, infection, and damage to internal organs such as the bowel, bladder, ureters (the tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder), nerves, and blood vessels.

There can also be a reaction to the medication used for anesthesia. If bleeding is excessive, a blood transfusion may be necessary. In extremely rare cases, death could occur as a result of a surgical complication. These are all things that you need to be aware of, but remember that tubal reversal surgery is associated with a low risk of complications.

Comment: I had my tubes tied after my third c-section in 20l3 after the birth of our baby girl, then a tragic event happened in March 2015 she passed away and our hearts were broken! We first decided to do foster care after about a year later, but it didn't work out due to my father having to move in with us. So we started looking into a reversal and praying about it. Comment: I wonder how long I could make this because I could write a book on how I feel about my experience! My tubes were cut and burnt, which we hear horror stories of those being the worst. Comment: I live in California and the least I had been told this surgery would cost is about $15,000. My husband and I had been married three years and although I deperately wanted another child (I have three from my first marriage and my current husband had no children). Comment: I am pleased to report that I conceived just three weeks after my surgery! My due date is April 19! We are in shock that it happened so quickly!

Comment: I had my tubes tied in June 2004 after the birth of my second child. I decided to have it done due to being a single mom and also having delivered previously in May 2003 at the age of 21. I made a devastating decision! Just two years later I met the love of my life and he doesn't have any children of his own. We have been together for almost nine years. We have talked about IVF which is very expensive, so we decided for a tubal reversal. We searched for a year and finally decided to allow Dr. Rogers to do the procedure. I sent her all of my medical records and I am a little nervous but ready to get procedure over with. I am currently scheduled for surgery in just 11 days. Comment: I had my tubal reversal February 2013. Dr. Rogers was so kind and made me feel comfortable. She explained everything in plain English and informed me that I only had one good tube. I was back at work in just a few days. I am so happy to say that in March 2014 we have a positive pregnancy test. When I went to the OB/GYN everything looked great after exactly one year of trying. Comment: I had a tubal reversal in October 2013. I was told my tube length was 3.5 and 5. I found out in December 2013 that I was four weeks pregnant. That was even faster than I was able to get pregnant before my tubal ligation and I am even older now, I am 34. I am currently 8.5 weeks and ultrasound showed baby in the uterus! We are so excited! I would also like to add that I have had pelvic pain for years and even my OB/GYN of 18 years could not find the cause of my pain but Dr. Rogers did. She is amazing!

Comment: My husband and I drove to Tennessee from Texas for my tubal reversal surgery in March 2010. I had my tubes tied after my three girls in 2003 at the age of 25. The staff and doctors were so kind, informative and reassuring. I felt really comfortable with the office and hospital staff. I became pregnant in July 2012 and just had my fourth daughter in March 2013. My advice to everyone undergoing a procedure at this clinic is to be patient!

Comment: I love the staff and Dr. Lisa Rogers; she was very nice and made the procedure as comfortable as she could. I traveled from Waterbury, Connecticut and had my surgery in May 2012. I got pregnant in August but it ended with a tubal pregnancy. I only have one tube to begin with, but hopefully this will not happen again.

Comment: I had my tubal reversal done in April 2009. Dr. Lisa Rogers was great and I could not have asked for a better surgeon. The staff was also great and I was so grateful for the pre-surgery prayer. With the best bedside manner, I would recommend Dr. Lisa and her staff as one of the best. Comment: I had my tubes tied after my second child and I didn’t think I would ever have another baby. I remarried in 2009 and my husband and I wanted a child together, so we decided to have a tubal reversal done. I looked for the right doctor for a year and then found Dr. Rogers. Comment: I got my tubes tied for all the wrong reasons after my second child was born. It was a decision I grew to regret and thanks to Dr. Rogers, I was able to fix. I felt like a complete woman once again thanks to her. My reversal was done in January 2012 and I am officially pregnant. Our due date is June 14, 2013 and I'm so excited.

Comment: I had a tubal ligation in November 2010. We decided to have it reversed and started looking for a doctor. After researching for a year, we found Dr. Lisa Rogers. I had my tubal reversal in January 2012. I cannot explain how amazing the whole experience was. We traveled from Georgia and after six hours we were in Jackson. Dr. Lisa Rogers and her staff, especially her nurse Cindy, are WONDERFUL! I was very scared and they both answered every question and calmed my every concern. The hospital was great also and very friendly and helpful. I got pregnant my first cycle trying! I am now eight weeks pregnant and so grateful for Dr. Rogers and everything she did for me.

Comment: I had my tubal reversal done in February 2012 with Dr. Lisa Rogers. I was so scared of being put under anesthesia. However, everything went well. Dr. Rogers is the kindest person I have ever met. I wish I could bring her back to Missouri with me, so she could deliver my baby when I have one. Cindy, her nurse was very nice too. Comment: I had by tubal done in 1997 after the birth of two sons. In 2001 I remarried and my husband didn’t have any children of his own so we decided to have a tubal reversal. After years of saving and research, we decided to go to Dr. Rogers and we are so happy we did. I had my surgery in April 2007 and Dr. Rogers, Cindy and the entire staff was wonderful. The hospital was super nice too. In October 2007 I found out I was pregnant and in June 2008 we welcomed a beautiful baby boy into our lives. Ten months later we were pregnant again and in January 2010 we had another little boy. A short six months later we were pregnant again and in April 2011 we welcomed a beautiful baby girl. We are trying to decide if we want to try for a fourth. I would highly recommend Dr. Rogers. She has been a true blessing to our family.

Comment: Dr. Rogers performed my tubal reversal in November of 2007 and I conceived in May 2008, just six months after my surgery. I had a beautiful baby boy in February 2009. I just found out that I am pregnant again and due July 2012! I’m so excited and I can’t thank Dr. Rogers enough!

Comment: In 1996 the day after my son was born, I had my tubes tied. I was getting a divorce and felt it was my best option at the time. After a decade I found myself in another relationship and for the first time in my life felt like I really wanted more babies. In 2008, Dr. Rogers reversed my tubes and I felt great after my recovery. We tried for the longest to conceive and it just wasn’t working. I decided to go to my OB/GYN I found out that I had fibroid tumors that were blocking the entry to my uterus. After having them removed we resumed our monthly counts of ovulation and body temps. Eight weeks later we found out that we were pregnant! I am now 32 weeks along. My best advice would be that after you have your tubes reversed, get checked out by your family doctor. Just relax, it may take time!

Comment: I had my reversal done in August 2011. Just found out that we are expecting and due in early May 2012. Dr. Rogers and her nurse Cindy were the absolute best. Comment: I have four children from a previous marriage and after my last child was born I had my tubes tied. After remarrying, my new husband and I discussed having children together since he had none of his own. I looked everywhere trying to find the right doctor. Comment: I want to say a special “thank you” to Dr. Rogers and her wonderful staff! I had a tubal reversal in March 2007. I was pregnant by the first week in May but sadly miscarried in June. It has been hard recovering from my loss. I believe we tried too soon! For anyone else wanting a child right away, learn from my mistake and wait at least two or three months post surgery before trying to conceive. The good news is that we are pregnant again! I am four months right now and everything is going fine. We have heard the heartbeat several times. My husband and I would not be having this baby if it was not for Dr. Rogers. The baby is due the first week in July. I can never thank you enough. I am glad we found you; we could not have done it without you! Your staff was amazing on how well they cared for me. Comment: My husband and I went to see Dr. Rogers to have a tubal reversal. We drove about 6 hours to see her. When we arrived the morning in April 2007 to have the surgery I was so nervous but everyone at the hospital was SO nice to me and my husband. Back in the room before the surgery I remember Dr. Rogers talking to me and telling me everything was going to be just fine. The surgery for the reversal was actually easier than having them tied. I was only out of work for a week and a half and you can barely see the scar. So now the great news is we just found out one year to the day we are positively pregnant! Comment: I have so many wonderful things to say about my tubal reversal experience with Dr. Rogers. I had my reversal in November 2010. After trying to conceive for three months life happened to throw us a curveball and we had to put trying to conceive on hold until December 2011. We were pregnant one month later in January 2012. Comment: I had my tubes tied in 2014 after having my second baby. I thought we were finished having babies, then my husband decides he wanted another one. My doctor recommended me to The Jackson Clinic to see Dr. Lisa Rogers. I researched her as much as possible, because I lived 2.5 hours away, so I never got to meet her until the day before surgery. Which that was scary enough not knowing the physician who is about to do your surgery, and not knowing anything about her office or staff. But she was wonderful!!!! I loved her and her nurses, she made me feel safe and very comfortable, and that everything was going to be okay. She's very honest and upfront and to my amazement, she came in my room to go over all of my post-op instructions right before surgery. She held my hand and said a prayer out loud! Now, that says a lot! She's very caring about her patients and has a great bedside manner and I couldn't be happier. I had my surgery October 2017 and I got pregnant the first try five - six weeks later! Now I' am 21 weeks pregnant and due with a baby girl coming August 2018! Thank you so much Dr. Lisa Rogers!
